Rules for School Fishing trips for 2007

The following rules apply for everyone going on class fishing trips with The Fish Guy. These rules apply to students, teachers, administrators and GUESTS. This is the students fishing day. Anyone who cannot follow the rules will either sit on the bus, in a students’ case or be asked to leave the park in a guests case.
All rules were written for safety reasons and will be explained.
Thanks for your cooperation and we hope you enjoy the fishing,

Les Rutledge
The Fish Guy

1.  No one needs a fishing license for the day. All licenses are waived until 2:00 PM on the day of fishing.

2.  We are going fishing for 4 hours. Do not bring footballs, Frisbees, game boys, headphones or cell phones. Please bring a camera.

3.  We are NOT keeping any fish. ALL fish will be turned loose. We are not equipped to harvest fish while on this trip.

4.  You cannot bring any fishing rods from home. We will provide all the rods, hooks, bobbers and worms for all students, guests, teachers, etc. who would like to fish. Everyone uses the same equipment provided by the program. Just like when you are in school, because you are in school.

5.   If you have a problem with a fishing rod that is broken and won’t work. DO NOT leave the fishing rod someplace to get a new one. The Fish Guy is the only person who can get you a new fishing rod and you will need to turn in the broken one.

6.   You can bring other baits not provided by the program such as marshmallows, corn or salmon eggs.

7.   No big tackle boxes or fishing jackets are allowed. If you would like to bring a few of your favorite lures they must fit in a small tackle box that fits in your pocket. No treble hooks are allowed for safety reasons.

8.   No sandals, flip-flops or open toed shoes are allowed. There is broken glass and rusted hooks on the banks occasionally. We do not need a medical emergency so easily prevented.

9.  NO ONE IS ALLOWED IN THE WATER.

10. NO ONE IS ALLOWED ON THE DOCK. The bottom of the pond has a very gradual slope so the water is never very deep. The dock IS very deep and off limits.

11.  No one is allowed outside the marked boundaries.

12.  No one is allowed on the playground.

13.  Wildlife has the right of way! If any ducks, muskrats, turtles, snakes, frogs, etc. come near you, you must leave. Anyone mishandling any wildlife, or fish, will be turned into the Fish, Wildlife and Parks game warden.

14.   Students are responsible for their guests understanding of the rules. If you bring a guest make sure they see this list.

15.   There will be volunteers around to help and have extra hooks and bobbers. They will assist in unhooking fish, fishing rods that don’t work and ALL safety related emergencies. We have trained CPR volunteers on hand.

16.   Everyone is responsible for their fishing rods. All rods are turned in at the end of the day in the same condition as they were passed out. Please do not wait until the last minute to fix your fishing rod and turn it in. Plan ahead.

Please enjoy the day in a safe and responsible manner. We have lots of people out fishing so a little bit of patience will help us out greatly. We hope you have enjoyed the day and the program.

Have a nice summer,

The Fish Guy
